Description
This is an Antique Punch Bowl or Bowl Stand. You could flip it over and use it as a decorative vase too, no one would be the wiser and people use them for vases all the time not knowing they are bowl bases upside down! In fact I think it has been displayed as a vase all this time because the sawteeth look nice like they haven't been grinding on a table for 100 years. This has a pattern of Sunbursts or Thistles. It has a thick collar to hold a bowl, then a fluted and notch cut neck before flaring out into the thistles/sunburst motifs and finish with a scalloped and sawtooth cut rim.
This is 8" tall by 6-1/4" wide at the flared end. the area inside the indent collar that would hold a bowl is 3-1/4" wide- so if you have a bowl with a 3-1/8" wide or less knob it should fit inside the holder end.
It is from the American brilliant period, (late 1800's to 1915). Which is over 100 years old now!
Condition: this is pre-owned and old. It has a small flake chip off the side of the collared end's rim, see picture above- this can be shaved down to repair, or left alone because it causes no issues. If you use it with a bowl it should be covered, if you flip it over it as a vase it will still be hard to see. The sawtooth rim end has very few tiny fleabites but no missing teeth or large chips that you can see. This looks great for its age with the most minor of wear.
