The front clasp and rear hinge are in fine working order. There is a tiny bit of cracking in the glaze near the clasp, indicated in the pictures provided. One would not notice this unless conducting closer inspection of the piece and therefore, does not detract from the beauty of this piece.
Please note: This piece is in “as-found” condition, showing signs of patina on the brass and could stand for a gentle cleansing in the right hands to bring it back to its full luster. Understandably, some collectors would prefer to see signs of patina and wear and as such, I do not undertake any restorative processes or cleansing aside from a gentle cloth so as to not potentially damage such a rare and fine piece of functional art from renowned artist and designer, Paul Jean Milet.
