his Crianza style Tempranillo is dark ruby red in color with aromas of ripe plum, leather and vanilla. The wine has spiced plum fruit flavors with dusty earthy undertones and is savory to the core. Kay Tempranillo is soft and round on the entry with a cocoa spiced finish. Great with barbecued smoky meats, polenta and pizza as well as traditional Spanish foods like roasted veggies, Jamon Iberico and most tapas or bocadillos.
Paso Robles is situated along U.S. Highway 101 in the center of California’s Central Coast, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Warm, dry days throughout the summer make it ideal for growing big bold reds with no holds barred-like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The warm climate—similar to the Napa Valley—builds power and structure in the grapes. Growing conditions in 2017 were steady with a warm spike in September that stalled many of the late variety grapes. Luckily, late season weather was dry and steady providing adequate hang time to the finish, resulting in concentrated flavor with exceptional fruit character.
