  • Condition: This box is very old and there is a small crack on the back of the box below the hinge and a very tiny crack at the opposite end of the back below the hinge (See picture 5). These age cracks seem stable and are not noticeable when the lid is closed. The hinge is in excellent condition and the lid opens and closes correctly. The inside fabric has been replaced at some point in time and can easily be removed if desired.

    Description

    Here we have an exquisite Antique French Ormolu Casket Box in the shape of a french commode.  Purchased on a buying trip to France. These boxes are becoming more difficult to find. I love how this box is decorated with elegant bows and draping rose garlands. The two sides are each decorated with a charming basket of roses. This delicious boudoir box has taken on a faded grandeur air with a wonderful aged patina. There are some age related chips to the finish. This box is very old and there is a small crack on the back of the box below the hinge and a very tiny crack at the opposite end of the back below the hinge (See picture 5). These age cracks seem stable and are not noticeable when the lid is closed. The hinge is in excellent condition and the lid opens and closes correctly. The inside fabric has been replaced at some point in time and can easily be removed if desired. The bottom is marked Depose. This box is supported by four sturdy furniture like legs. The box is very heavy and measures approximately 5 1/2 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide, and 4 inches tall. This beautiful box would look incredible on a vanity table, dresser, or in a curio. It would also be wonderful displayed with your favorite doll.
