Blitz Sales Award, Display, Advertising or ???
I obtained this doll 20+ years ago from a retail store.  The store was a former food store.  The person I obtained the doll from said he was told it was a sales award given to the store or to a Blitz distributor and then to the store in 2000.
I have never seen another and antique dealers have told me the same.
Another possibility is that someone made it. other than Blitz.  The button with "Blitz Me" is quite common.  The fishing lure with Blitz on it is not common.  The cloth pattern for the shirt had to be special order.  This seems unlikely.
The doll is made of wooden dowels, heavy wire and newspaper for filler.  The newspaper is dated March 23rd, 1977 and is from Portland Oregon, where Blitz had major operations.  Due to the construction, it is easy to see why one might assume it is home made, however, if Blitz only needed a few for some special award, the maker could have been an amateur.  The survival rate would be very small due to the construction.
The information is very scarce making it difficult to determine it's history.
The doll comes with two extra Blitz pins.  The clothing was recently washed.  The doll is 22 inches high from the shelf to the top of the hat and 10 inches from the shelf to the feet.  The box he is sitting on will not be included, only used for taking the pictures.
