    Over 100 years old.
The spurs are made of nickel metal to resist corrosion.
These were made in the WWI era.
To "earn your spurs" is an old idiom, meaning to gain distinction and respect through acts of bravery and/or hard work.
Historically to earn one's spurs meant to gain a knighthood by proving bravery on the battlefield ; a new knight would sometimes be given a pair of spurs.
